If you are a bit new to vaping, you will or have at least heard the term "Priming" or "Prime your Coils". The importance is to get the best flavor or tastes from your vaping experience. No one wants a bad taste in their mouth when they are trying to enjoy a good vape and have just bought some different flavors to enjoy.
WHAT IS PRIMING
Priming simply is making sure your coil is getting enough wick moisture so when you hit your vape you are getting the best airflow and tastes of your selected flavor instead of a disgusting taste in your mouth.
HOW DO I PRIME?
You start out to make sure your device has is a good measure of cotton inside the coil to ensure good taste on your first puff. It can also help the life of the coil and allows your e-liquid to soak properly in the cotton kicking off a good air flow. Begin by removing your coil from the tank. Place in the open, just a few drops of your favorite e-juice on top of the coil. Make sure all of the cotton is wet with the liquid. Note, if you don't have an open top then put the e-juice in the wick holes on the side. After that, you can replace the coil back into the tank. You can test it before hitting activate on your battery by taking some small draws, not a lot, just a few. Depending on what kind of tank you have, say an adjustable one with airflow, then decrease the airflow to create a stronger seal. It's best to wait for about 10 minutes to make sure your coil is fully saturated. If you have overflowed with liquid, then grab a tissue to get the additional e-juice out. Remember, you should be able adjust your batteries voltage to match the coils rating. Check the package for further instructions.
WHEN TO PRIME YOUR VAPE
It really depends how often you vape. If you are a frequent vaper, using it all week long on one main tank, then priming your vape should probably be done once a week. If not your coils will taste gross. So if you want a long vaping clean experience, make sure you prime them frequently if you are doing heavy use.
Why do you want to prime your vape? Basically priming allows for quicker vaping, especially with a new vape or coil. It prevents the coil from burning the first time you use it. This is a lot faster instead of sitting around waiting for your wicks to soak up the e-juice.
Overall, priming is a huge part of vaping and should always be done properly. You don't want get to much moisture in the tank and flow it out. It's good to know that after priming and all the liquid is in the tank. As an extra precaution, close the air flow down a little bit because it will force more liquid into the cotton. Take your few puffs for safety, don't hit the battery just yet. Once done open the air flow up again. The end goal of priming is simply to get the best taste out of your vape. Remember, there are also other ways to prime your vape which includes the full tank method, the direct method and the vacuum method.
